i come from sa, and grew up with afl. i moved to nsw and there was no afl (where i was)

Considering the AFL was originally the VFL I think you have this one quite wrong. Only NSW and QLD follow with any seriousness the two rugby codes. The rest of the country are far more AFL based. The problem for the rugby league world is that while they are starting to falter, the AFL is making massive inroads into their traditional turf.

This will never be turned around untill the people of sydney recognise that Australia goes far beyond the blue mountains and to have a national competition, you need national clubs not just two states.

No. QLD and NSW are the rugby capitals of Australia. VIC, SA, WA, TAS and NT prefer AFL.
