Question:
What a win to the NT U18's! There was more than one thriller on Saturday night! Q inside?

Last night in the ongoing U18's Championships the NT Thunder have upset perennial favourites and reigning champs Vic Metro, with two player in particular wreaking havoc - Ben and Willy Rioli, cousins of Cyril. In a couple of years time we could have 3 Rioli's in the AFL! And won't the commentators love that one - Willy Rioli!! The NT won by 18 points, 100-82, here is the link:- http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/136949/default.aspx
The Best 3 Players line runs: Tipungwuti, B. Rioli, W. Rioli.
Your thoughts on having another 2 Rioli's in the comp? And how much talent is in the NT? I guess this has got to raise the question again ... does the Northern Territory deserve an AFL club?

They do deserve one...but it's totally unadvisable to consider that now, as the 2 "expansion" clubs are really struggling at the moment.

Then Darwin is still very much a second class venue...ok, the Tigers, Roos, Port etc, will go there, but the big clubs are not going to accept a manadaory visit to the NT, when they would lose a lucrative game in Melbourne.

As for 2 more Rioli's and others...yes, the influx of indigenous players is increasing and no reason to believe a kid with the right guidance can go all the way to the AFL.

Same reasoning Fish...the A.C.T., and Tassie "deserve" a team, but there's still clear reasons why they can't get one.

Honestly a bit of a surprise there with that result. Perhaps a long campaign for Metro is on the cards this year.

I have to agree with PAP 2012 about Bruce, he would be absolutely beside himself with 3 Rioli's playing in the AFL!

As for NT getting a licence I can't see it happening anytime in the foreseeable future due to their likely inability to financially sustain a club. Maybe one day

Which is more to the point of why they are playing 2 games a year up there.

If anyone had of watched last weeks game Western Bulldogs V Gold Coast Suns played in Darwin. they did a special at half time where the players that come from up that way. go back to their homes with some of the other players. all in the name of promoting the game further.

I wonder if Kevin Sheedy knows about these other 2 Rioli brothers? back in the 80s. he used to be able to sniff out players like them. to have them signed up to play for the Bombers before your Sunday roast was cooked.

Great Find Fishman.

cheers.

Good on them! Oh dear, Bruce Macavaney will cream himself over three Rioli's in the AFL. NT produces some amazing, talented Aboriginal players, but do they deserve an AFL club? That's a hard one. They'd probably have to build an indoor (similar to Etihad) stadium and have it air-conditioned for it to happen.

A name I like is the 'Darwin Bullets'. What would you call an NT team if there ever is one?

The 8-guy is nice. it is what my SNME fits may well be. Batista, John Cena & Cryme Tyme vs JBL, Kane, DiBiase & Rhodes (Kane's team wins, opens the bag and properly-knownshows something that's no longer a masks) CM Punk vs Batista (non-call) Paul Burchill vs Kofi Kingston vs Jamie Noble vs Paul London (#a million contender for IC call) side, Hawkins, Ryder & Khali vs Triple H, MVP, Jesse & Festus women's Championship journey - Mickie James vs Katie Lea (with particular customer referee Jenny McCarthy) Diva's Championship #a million contender journey - Natalya vs Maryse vs Cherry vs (first-time) Eve Torres
